We Choose to Go to the Moon – Trombone Ensemble

We Choose to Go to the Moon is based on the famous speech given by John F. Kennedy on May 25th, 1961. Using Kennedy’s speech inflections and natural rhythm as the bold opening statement and later as motivic material, the piece interjects musical imagery of the space program to create an exciting, driving feel. This work was commissioned and premiered by the West Texas A&M University Trombone Choir under the direction of Dr. Raimundo Morales.
