The Shadows Surrender

The Shadows Surrender, with its haunting melodies, captures the movements of the shadows cast by the pale moonlight as they grow longer until the burst of dawn. The shadows become increasingly more vivid until twilight when they surrender to a pale dawn. The piece was written in memory of Cindy James, a choir director for 25 years and a councilor for 10 years in Bridgeport, Texas. In these positions she of course came into contact with many children and families and had definite impact on countless lives. It was premiered by Jeff James, the band director at Bridgeport HS.
